In the context of our research during the course of negotiation, we had to choose a topic to write an essay. During the courses we have talked about many points which are involved in Negotiation. At the end we have seen a bit the influence of culture on negotiation. I would like to write my essay on this subject because all of our courses are more or less linked to culture. Indeed we are studying in an international perspective, so we have to be adaptable, open-minded and whatever. My short essay will talk about the influence of culture (why culture has to be assimilated) on the negotiation lifecycle. I do not pretend that it is the continuation of the course but rather the result of my interest on this subject. That is why I would like to deeper on this topic. It will be a kind of discussion about the importance of negotiation in an international perspective and how culture is so linked to this topic. First of all I would like to describe or review the definition of negotiation and the topic of international negotiation. In facts we can say that negotiation is invited in everyday life. Nowadays the society is set more and more by the relationship based on contracts: it became indispensable to have good negotiation ability. We will see that this is a specific and remarkable notion. Then, we will identify the changes which are influencing negotiation such as the culture.

Why studying negotiation and its different factor of influence? There are many challenges: the first is to develop the commercial performance of companies and organizations to have a better anticipation and managements of changes. Commercial negotiation fits well obviously in the vast field of negotiation, been little studied in France (unlike United States where it is legitimate and recognized search) So, first it is important to know globally what the “meaning” of negotiation is.
